MBTI is based on the work of Carl Jung (1875-1961) a famous Swiss psychologist who studied the random differences in people’s behaviour and called it the theory of psychological type. His work was later developed by Katherine Briggs (1875-1968) and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers (1897-1980) to produce MBTI that is understandable and accessible to individuals in everyday life.

MBTI has many applications and is successfully used in, self-understanding and awareness, coaching, communication, conflict management, decision-making, leadership development, managing change, managing stress, team and career development.

About MBTI® (Myers Briggs Type Indicator®)

After more than 50 years of research and development the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) was created and used to understand personality differences. Today there are more than 3.5 million users annually worldwide. MBTI helps individuals identify strengths, understand motivations and recognise potential areas of growth. It also provides us with an understanding of the reasons for us getting on easily with some people and not so easily with others. It helps us put things into context and enables us to adapt our behaviour to get the best out of others who are different types to ourselves.

SUCCESSMITH is accredited to administer Myers Briggs questionnaires and support you to discover your ‘best fit’ MBTI through feedback sessions on a one-to-one or team basis. The feedback sessions are fun self-discovery experiences and can be facilitated either traditionally on dry land or less traditionally, for example, on the water.

For those who want a more physically challenging experience of MBTI in practice,
SUCCESSMITH in collaboration with

have designed an MBTI team day with a difference:

MBTI meets yacht sailing– apply and do, try it out for yourself!

We invite you and your team to join us for a day where Myers Briggs (MBTI) profiling meets yacht sailing. The day is a mix of accelerated learning, self-discovery and is reinforced with lots of practical application. This interactive day generates both personal insights and an understanding of the team as a whole.

Each person will leave the day with an individual MBTI report indicating their preferred way of working and have experience of what this means in practice. All this has a direct application back in the work place. It’s a value adding, fun and cost effective way to learn about yourself and your team, impacting on the bottom line and delivering results.
